After leaving a career in finance in her native country of Japan, Kuniko Yagi was discovered by Chef David Myers while working as a server at a Los Angeles noodle shop. Her enthusiasm for culinary culture not only got her invited to test her aspirations in the Michelin star kitchen of Sona, but fueled her rapid rise from the amuse station to Chef de Cuisine.
Kuniko went on to be Executive Chef of Myers, Comme Ca, an elevated French Brasserie, which later opened its second location in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan. Most recently, she was the Excecutive Chef at Hinoki + the Bird in Century City garnering awards, recognition and praise from critics and customers alike.
Kuniko is a certified [RYT-200] yoga teacher. Along with her passion to cook for as many people as she can, one of her goal is to teach yoga to restaurant industry people to keep up with their stressful and hard job to keep their balance of life mentally and physically.
As an executive chef of an award winning restaurant she knows how important yoga is to your health. She wants to takes her practice and train chefs in yoga. Her passion lies in not only teaching yoga on retreats, as well as cooking fine dining.
Kuniko has been recognized by Bon Appetit, Esquire, Los Angeles Magazine, LA Times as a chef to watch and by Star Chefs as a Rising Star.
